The IELTS test is one of the most difficult challenges that English learners have to face during their education and careers. By passing the test, it enables students to gain entry into universities around the world that require a standard in English proficiency for students who want to study on specific courses. Students must prove in the test they are capable and ready for the university environment and that they are able to produce work of an academic standard.
There are certain things a student must consider before they take the test.
The cost of an IELTS Test with IDP and British Council is 7100 THB and averages between $200 to $245 in other countries around the world.
The first key element is to make sure your essay writing has order and that the examiner can see clear structure and skill in your writing.
Relevancy: Learn how to make sure that every idea and sentence is relevant to what the question requires you to do so you don't lose points.
Coherence is absolutely essential in communicating your essay with the examiner. Each phrase and paragraph must be understood and integrated.
Learn to make your writing flow from one part to the other to really hit those high scores. Your essay should be easy reading from the beginning to the end.
Learning to be accurate means to show that you have excellent grammatical skills with no spelling mistakes and a disciplined academic attitude.
Balance is everything. A well balanced essay can be recognised at a glance by the examiner. They see the entire shape immediately and will score you points.
In the IELTS examination, students are challenged with 3 different parts for the speaking test.
The examiner is looking for certain English skills rather than just everyday conversation.
An experienced examiner listens for the specific parts of the speech and how it is presented which means students are required to learn various skills and apply them when taking the test in order to score a credible band score for the standard of the university course.

The IELTS Academic Writing test is made up of two tasks:
The questions in the academic writing test are different to those in the general writing test. Students should fully prepare for both types of questions. However on the day of the test, students are only asked one of the questions.
1) Academic question: In Academic Writing Task 1, you will be shown a visual representation of information; a graph, table, chart or diagram, and you are asked to summarize, describe or explain the information you see.
2) General Question: In task one, you are given a situation where you will need to write a letter to request information or explain the situation. You might, for example, be asked to write a letter to suggest how to improve facilities at a library.
In Academic Writing Task 2, you will be presented with a point of view, argument or problem. The topics can range from the environment to immigration, culture and even technology. You might be asked to, agree or disagree with a point of view or argument, discuss two opposing views, write about the advantages or disadvantages of a topic, or explain a given problem, or the cause of a problem and offer a solution. Your response for Academic Writing Task 2 will need to be in an essay format.
